Leg-spinner delivered praise-worthy performances for the Punjab Kings last season. However, he wasn’t included in the playing eleven in the first few games this season.
Punjab Kings head coach Anil Kumble finally opened up on Ravi Bishnoi’s exclusion in the first four games. He claimed that the youngster wasn’t at his best when he joined the team camp. Kumble revealed that since the last few days, the 20-year-old was working on technical aspects with the leg-spinner along with helping him improve his focus.
“I worked on his run-up and a few other things because he was drifting down the leg side even in practice games. That’s why he didn’t start the tournament earlier,”
he further added.
Playing against the defending champions, Ravi picked two important wickets of Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav. He also conceded just 21 runs in his four overs at an extremely impressive economy rate of 5.2.
He said that now Ravi’s commitment and focus is sorted, he’s back. It’s wonderful to see him bowl so well. In their most recent match against Mumbai Indians, Punjab registered a win by nine wickets due to a complete performance in all the game departments.
Drafted from the U-19 Indian team, Bishnoi played all the 14 league matches for Punjab last year and ended up with 12 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 7.37 and an average of 31.33.
