Chennai Super Kings are all set to kickstart their preparations for the second half of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League. Former India captain and current CSK captain MS Dhoni arrived in Chennai on Tuesday.
Dhoni and a few other Indian players are likely to fly to the United Arab Emirate on August 13. If the CSK players do take flight, they will be the first team to land in the UAE ahead of the second half of the IPL 2021.
“Indian players in the team, whoever is available, will travel to UAE on August 13 in all likelihood,”
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan was quoted saying to PTI.
The 14th edition of the IPL was suspended midway through due to the increase in COVID-19 in India. The BCCI then decided to move the remainder of the tournament to the UAE, which also hosted the 2020 season of the IPL.
CSK start their UAE leg against arch-rivals and two-time defending champions Mumbai Indians. This game will also kick off the second leg of the IPL 2021, and it will take place on September 19 in Dubai. The MS Dhoni-led side are currently second on the points table with 10 points from seven games (five wins and two losses).
