After a number of setbacks, Rajasthan Royals franchise has finally received positive news. Ace South African batsman Rassie van der Dussen has joined the team camp as a replacement for the foreign players who won’t be a part of the team anymore in the ongoing edition of Vivo IPL.
The Rajasthan Royals franchise have faced a plethora of problems this season. Firstly, the leader of their bowling unit, Jofra Archer was ruled out of the entire 2021 edition of the IPL even before the tournament started owing to a finger injury.
Post that, English all-rounder Ben Stokes injured his finger while taking a catch and has flown back to his home country after playing in just a single match. Problems for the Sanju Samson-led team continued, after Andrew Tye and Liam Livingstone opted out of the tournament midway due to the disastrous second wave of coronavirus pandemic.
Recently, the news has come that Rassie Van Der Dussen has joined the Rajasthan team camp, however, he is yet to complete his mandatory quarantine period. This is the first time Van Der Dussen will feature in the marquee league.
Samson would expect Rassie Van Der Dussen to solve the batting woes of his side. Rassie has an excellent record in T20I cricket. The right-hander has played 20 matches for the Proteas and has scored 628 runs at an impressive average of 41.87. He has also scored his runs at a tremendous strike rate of 138.63.
Van Der Dussen’s last 5 T20I innings read 37,25*,74*,34*, and 52, which clearly suggest how well he has done in the shortest format of the game in the recent past. Amidst all the injury concerns on the Rajasthan side, Van Der Dussen, will be a great addition to the side.
The Royals from Rajasthan have won just 2 out of the 6 matches thus far and are languishing at 7th place in the IPL points table.
