South African batsman Rassie van der Dussen is likely to join Rajasthan Royals franchise as the team’s overseas players, Ben Stokes and Liam Livingstone have been ruled out of the ongoing edition of the IPL.Rassie’s availability will be confirmed once he clears the fitness test.
Sanju Samson’s RR have had a tough start to the tournament. They have already lost three out of four matches and are languishing at the bottom of the points table. Moreover, the team’s superstar players Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Liam Livingstone have been ruled out of the entire 2021 edition of the IPL.
Reports suggest that South Africa batsman Rassie van der Dussen is on the verge of joining the Royals for Indian Premier League 2021. The Royals have reportedly put in a request to add the 32-year-old to their squad, and the cricketer is supposed to pass the fitness test to confirm his availability. Nothing is confirmed as of yet, but the franchise might release a statement once everything falls in place.
Van der Dussen can turn out to be a great addition to the side, as the right-hander has been in tremendous form lately. He was the stand-out batsman for South Africa in the recently concluded ODI and T20I series against Pakistan. He scored 183 runs in two ODIs, including a century, and smashed 86 runs in the T20 Internationals at a staggering strike-rate of 153.57.
However, Rassie has been plagued by injuries in recent times. If he clears the fitness tests and is deemed match fit, then he can be a great addition to the RR side. In 20 T20Is, Rassie has scored 628 runs at an impressive strike-rate of 138.
The Royals will take on Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday at the Wankhede Stadium.
