Team India returned to training at Durham’s Emirates Riverside stadium in order to prepare for a three-day warm-up match against County Championship XI ahead of their five-match Test series against England.
The Virat Kohli-led team were on a break from cricket after their defeat against New Zealand in the World Test Championship final. The players enjoyed their time away from the bio-bubble, and few players even attended the Wimbledon and Euro 2020.
The players reunited at Durham back into the bio-bubble and went through a training session, doing warm-ups, fielding drills and the regular net practice. The BCCI shared a training video on their official Twitter handle, which ended with the team celebrating fielding coach R Sridhar’s 51st birthday.
Indian team was without the company of their teammate Rishabh Pant, who had earlier tested positive for COVID-19. A couple of other members of the squad also missed the training as they are currently under isolation as precautionary measures.
Players who returned to training looked in a bright mood as they smiled and waved for the camera and posted pictures of their training session on social media afterwards. Skipper Kohli posted a group photo along with Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul and Shardul Thakur with the caption “back at it.”
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma looked chilled out as he posted a few pictures of himself concentrating in the nets.
The three-day warm-up match against County Championship XI will begin on July 20. The stream will be available on Durham Cricket’s official YouTube channel.
The five-match red-ball series against England is scheduled to begin on August 4 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
