Former India captain’s verified mark was removed from Twitter in the early hours of Friday, but social media restored the blue tick a few hours later. However, the reason for the removal and instant revoke is still unknown.
BBCI and IPL media manager Moulin Parekh confirmed that Twitter had restored the verified blue tick for Dhoni’s account.
For a few hours, it became the talking point on Twitter, and the reason for the removal of the verified blue tick from Dhoni’s account is unknown. The former Indian captain has not been active on social media. His last tweet was on the January 8. In fact, he barely even tweets and his last few tweets have been more of less Instagram links.
When MS Dhoni retired in August 2020, he took to Instagram to upload his retirement video. The Ranchi-born cricketer didn’t even post the Instagram link (as he usually does) or the video on Twitter. Since the start of the year 2020, Dhoni has posted a mere seven tweets. That could be one of the reasons why Dhoni’s verified blue tick was removed as he was inactive for months.
This is not the first time that a big Indian personality has faced such an issue. India’s Cabinet Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad’s verified account was suspended after his battle with the government of India.
