Reigning Champions League winners Chelsea have been informed regarding the recent developments at Marseille about French midfielder Boubacar Kamara. The young centre midfielder has been offered to some of the top European clubs. However, the French side have not received any official bid for the midfielder.
Chelsea have been linked with West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, but Kamara can very well be a cheaper alternative for the England international. However, another French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is also on the radar of the Blues as the Rennes star matches the criteria needed for Chelsea.
A lot of outlets all over England suggest that Chelsea will not be able to lure Rice away from The Hammers so easily. The Blues will need to match the £80million asking price set by the Hammers. Therefore, the Blues management is looking at viable midfield alternatives that can be a perfect fit at Stamford Bridge.
The biggest boost that the Blues have received in their transfer pursuit is the availability of Boubacar Kamara. The youngster is available at a very low price, and hence Chelsea may very well look forward to negotiating with the 21-year-old Frenchman and his representatives.
There is a major financial crisis in French football, and Marseille are desperate to raise funds by selling the youngster. Kamara has been linked with several top clubs all across Europe, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and others. However, Marseille are yet to receive an official bid for the player and hence it is raising concern for the French outfit at the moment.
The French outfit believe that Kamara can be a great source of income, considering his high potential and maturity at such a tender age. At this point, a lot of clubs can take advantage of this situation and rope in the 21-year-old who is tipped to be one of the best talents in France.
The player is available for as little as €15m along with a few bonuses. Considering the player’s potential and low asking fee, a lot of other clubs have also made Kamara their primary target.
Recently Metro reported that apart from Chelsea, Premier League side Newcastle United have made the 21-year-old their primary target for this summer. The Magpies are eyeing a €15million deal due to COVID-19 inflicted financial crisis in French football.
Kamara played as many as 43 matches for Marseille in all competitions last season. His exceptional form and maturity beyond his years make him a very saleable player for the French outfit. He is extremely technical and is often termed as a ‘technical destroyer’ and a perfect fit for many clubs looking for a physical presence in the middle of the park. The stats well back his characteristics from last season, and hence the interest among clubs is pretty high.
Kamara started his career as a centre back and was pretty good in defence. He was later fielded as a centre defensive midfielder and has progressed as a player in that position since then. His ability to be at the right place at the right time makes him a proper defensive cover.
He can slot in as a defender and has great aerial prowess, winning 64.4% of his aerial duels. He has been a great tackler, winning 42.4% of his tackles. His overall 2.9 tackles per game prove his role as a defensive midfielder, and the numbers suggest that he has what it takes to succeed in the Premier League.
Apart from winning duels, Kamara is great at retaining possession and can also play as a deep-lying playmaker. He is also solid with his passing, and his physicality allows him to retain the ball in the middle of the park. He can very well be at the base of the midfield and can win possession and initiate counterattacks.
