Paris Saint Germain accidentally confirmed the signing of Sergio Ramos in a now-deleted article on their official website. The article in question was about Ramos’ shirt number in Paris, which, as it happens, will be the number 4.
“This number four, I appreciate it a lot out of superstition, because I had it from the start of my career, and then it accompanied me throughout my life, continued [with] me, brought good luck, and a lot of victories,”
“Now number four is part of me as a person and as a professional. For me, it’s a privilege to be able to wear this number in such a great team, Paris Saint-Germain. So it will be very special to be able to wear my number here in Paris.”
the article read.
Thilo Kehrer currently holds the No.4 jersey shirt for the Parisians, although the article would suggest that he has since moved on to another number to accommodate Ramos’ arrival.
The Spaniard wore the same for his former club Real Madrid, where he served as the club captain until his departure at the end of the previous season. The Spaniard joins one of his former teammates – Keylor Navas – in Paris with an official announcement expected shortly.
Ramos becomes PSG’s third signing of the summer, following the arrival of Georginio Wijnaldum and Achraf Hakimi. Wijnaldum joined the Parisiens on a free transfer following his departure from Liverpool. Hakimi, meanwhile, completed a big-money move to the French capital from Inter Milan amid the financial troubles currently engulfing the latter.
Ramos, Wijnaldum, and Hakimi are expected to be joined by Gianluigi Donnarumma in Paris soon. The Italian goalkeeper is on the verge of signing for the French giants following his exit from AC Milan. Donnarumma will become PSG’s third free signing of the summer, following Wijnaldum and Ramos.
