The biggest challenge for Tottenham Hotspur this season is to keep hold of their talismanic striker Harry Kane. Speaking on that topic, club sporting director Fabio Paratici also revealed that keeping Kane at the club is a primary ‘goal’ for Spurs this summer.
The England captain who has won three English Premier League Golden Boots with Tottenham has often revealed his desire to leave North London to win more trophies. He also wants to compete at the top most level in Europe. At the moment, at Spurs he is not getting that chance to fight for the European titles. Hence the 27-year-old striker is looking for options elsewhere as Tottenham have failed to qualify for the elite continental football.
A lot of clubs all across Europe are linked with Kane and are eyeing a move for the England international. The main interest is from Manchester United and Manchester City. Chelsea, PSG and Real Madrid have been linked with the striker recently or even in the past.
However, the current interest in the striker makes things a little easier for Tottenham as they have control over this transfer. Kane’s current contract runs till 2024 and hence the Lillywhites can get a hefty transfer fee in return for the striker or may convince him to stay at the club for a few more years. Now it depends on their new manager Nuno Espirito Santo and the Portuguese tactician will be looking to take the final call on the England skipper.
While everyone at Spurs are eager to keep hold of Kane, Fabio Paratici confirms that the club has not held any talks with the player. He is currently with Gareth Southgate’s England side at the Euros as the Three Lions have already progressed through to the semifinals. The final call on the 27-year-old will be taken once the current European Championship comes to an end.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the former Juventus chief said:
“To keep Kane isn’t only a goal for me, but for the club. He is a top player. I was lucky in my time at Juventus, I saw so many great strikers and I want to enjoy Kane too.”
Paratici spoke very highly of the England skipper and believes that he is one of the best marksmen in the world. He also adds how Kane is far from a one dimensional forward and can even come up with assists for his team-mates. However, he revealed that he has not spoken with Kane as he does not break his concentration as he leads England to the Euros.
“I can’t wait to see him. He’s one of the best strikers in the world, he has great physique and also a fine technique. He can shoot with both feet, he gives the team-mates many assists.
“I haven’t talked to him yet because I don’t want to disturb our players during Euros.”
Kane is totally invested at the Euros, where he is guiding the Three Lions in their journey to the title. The 27-year-old started the tournament very slowly, misfiring in all three group stage fixtures. However, at the moment of need, Kane stepped up and scored the second goal against Germany in their RO16 win to put the game beyond Die Mannschaft’s reach.
His first goal at the Euros gave him confidence, and hence he was in his element against Ukraine in the quarter-finals. The Spurs forward scored a brace, breaking the deadlock within the first ten minutes of the game. England thumped Andriy Shevchenko’s men 4-0 to progress to the semifinals.
The Three Lions will face a fiery Denmark side in the last four clashes, and Kane will be crucial for Southgate and his men.
