Delhi based cricketer Subodh Bhati has reclaimed the unimaginable. After becoming the first Indian to score a double century in competitive T20 cricket, Bhati repeated the astonishing feat when he blazed his willow for another score past the 200-mark in the game’s shortest format.
As per Sports Tiger, Bhati, who had struck a jaw-dropping 207* off 57 balls playing for Sangeum Cricketers, has now made another whopping score of 205 from 79 balls playing for Delhi XI new against Simba. While his previous T20 double ton back in 2018 included 21 sixes and 13 fours, the latest innings consisted of 17 maximums and just as many boundaries.
The scintillating innings was recorded during a club tournament in Delhi where Bhati made Simba fieldsmen chase the leather to all parts of the ground, having batted at a strike-rate of over 250.
Bhati’s knock of 205* was part of Delhi XI’s score of 256 in their allotted quota of 20 overs as he almost singlehandedly took the game away from the opposition. Two other batsmen contributed 31 runs to the score, while the rest came from extras.
Bhati’s superlative effort took a toll on team Simba, who fell short by a margin of 57 runs after being dismissed for a total of 199 in 17.5 overs.
Bhati has been a right-hand batsman and right-arm medium bowler for Delhi in the Indian domestic scene. Having made his debut for Delhi back in 2015, the cricketer has represented the capital city in 8 first-class, 24 List A and 39 T20 matches.
While the 30-year-old has been a handy batsman at the senior domestic level, it is more with the ball that he has shined for Delhi. He averages 28.31 and 19.86 in first-class and List A cricket, respectively, and has a respectable T20 economy rate of 7.42.
