Despite seeing two of their bids turned down – and receiving no indication from the player over a potential move – Chelsea will press on in their pursuit of Romelu Lukaku. The Blues are preparing a player plus cash bid for the Inter Milan forward.
As per Goal, Chelsea are prepared to offer a sizable cash amount, and one of their players, to Inter Milan in exchange for the Belgum international. The striker has become a priority target for the Blues in recent days, following their fruitless pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland. The European champions are hoping to add the firepower of Lukaku to their attack next season, following a disappointing previous campaign in terms of goals.
Chelsea are ready to pay Inter a huge fee for the 28-year-old, while they are also open to including Marcos Alonso in a potential deal. Alonso was linked with Inter previously, albeit his supposed admirer Antonio Conte has since left the club. The Athletic reported previously that Chelsea failed with two bids for Lukaku this summer and that the player is happy to stay in Milan for the moment.
On the other hand, Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Chelsea’s bid of 100 million euros plus Alonso has already been rejected by Inter Milan. The Nerazzurri see Lukaku as key to their plans next season and are unwilling to part ways with the forward who scored 24 goals in 36 league matches last season. Lukaku was a key factor in Inter’s title win, which came last season after a decade of transition.
While Chelsea continue their pursuit of Lukaku, one Serie A side is hoping to sign a young Blue on loan for the season. According to Fabrizio Romano, Udinese have asked Chelsea to borrow striker Armando Broja for the 2021/22 season. Broja spent last season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem in the Netherlands and scored ten goals.
Broja is a full-fledged Albania international and has already accumulated six caps for his national team. He recently signed a long-term contract with Chelsea and scored his first senior goal in a 2-1 friendly win over Bournemouth.
