According to Cricbuzz, there were two rounds of tests conducted for the Indian contingent so far and the player that returned a positive report was from the first round of testing which was conducted on July 10.
Just ahead of the camp and three-day warm-up game in Durham, the Indian Test squad has hit a roadblock. Reports have emerged that at least one player from the Indian Test touring party has tested positive for COVID-19.
The Indian team were on a break in England after the World Test Championship final. After the title clash ended on June 23, the players were allowed to take a three-week break, and they could travel around the United Kingdom with their respective family members.
The Indian team are scheduled to re-group in Durham on July 15. However, the player who tested positive will not join the rest of the squad. Moreover, if there are multiple cases from the Indian contingent, it would be known from the number of players reporting to Durham on Thursday. The Indian team will be back in the bio-bubble once they reach Durham.
The National Health Service in England have been already conducted a couple of COVID-19 tests for the Indian players. The first one was conducted on July 10 and it is in this round of testing that a player was found to be positive. Meanwhile, there was another round of testing that took place on July 14.
The COVID-19 cases have been on the rise all across the UK. In the recent past, the entire England ODI squad had to isolate themselves after three players and four members of the support staff tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the ODI series against Pakistan.
The Virat Kohl-led Indian side are scheduled to have a camp in Durham ahead of the five-match Test series against England, which starts at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on August 4. They will also play a three-day warm-up fixture against a County Select Xi at the Riverside Ground in Durham which will start on July 20.
