Borussia’s head of football, Sebastian Kehl believes that their talismanic forward will stay at the club for at least another season. The Norwegian striker is one of the hottest prospects in world football.
Haaland has been consistent with his goalscoring approach. He guided the Black and Yellows to a solid last season and was instrumental in Dortmund’s DfB Pokal. He netted 30 goals in 32 appearances for the German outfit.
The young marksman’s ability to find the back of the net consistently has attracted interest from clubs like Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester United and even neighbours Manchester City. However, Borussia Dortmund have completely rubbished the claims and believes that Haaland will stay at the Signal Iduna Park.
When asked about Haaland, BVB head of first team football told Sky Germany,
“There is nothing new on this matter. He is in our plans. Erling will return this week and he will be very hungry.
“He wants to play football, he feels comfortable with us and he will be eager to score many goals.”
According to reports on several outlets, Chelsea have already met the player’s representatives discussing a possible move to the West London outfit. The Blues have been told that Haaland could be worth around £150 million, which has made Chelsea think about their pursuit of the striker this summer.
Even if the deal does not go through this summer, Haaland has a £70million release clause. Hence, a lot of clubs are playing the waiting game just to approach the Norweigian striker at a lower fee next summer.
For now, Dortmund are busy looking for a replacement for Jadon Sancho. The England international who joined Manchester United will be a big miss for the Black and Yellows in the upcoming season. The Red Devils have notched up a £73 million deal for Sancho, who will be joining the club soon as the European Championships have already come to an end.
Dortmund were at first looking at PSV youngster Noni Madueke. The 19-year-old winger has shown great credentials in the Eredivisie last season and has attributes close to that of their English predecessor. However, now things have changed for the Black and Yellow in the last few days. Dortmund have reached an agreement with PSV Eindhoven and Netherlands international Donyell Malen. The young winger has been one of the star prospects at the recently concluded European Championships.
