Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has decided to continue at Old Trafford. As per Times, the Spaniard is willing to fight for his place in the squad after United completed the signing of their fourth goalkeeper this summer.
Tom Heaton is one of the latest entrants in the United ranks, and the 35-year-old has reiterated that he is going to fight for a place in the XI. Dean Henderson, one of the prospects in between the posts, is also expected to fight for his place. At this point, it remains unclear as to who will start for United at the start of the season.
Lee Grant was also confirmed as a new signing after Heaton’s signing was announced. Grant is said to be associated with the coaching department, but the fact remains that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now has four goalkeepers at his disposal.
De Gea has had a difficult few months in the recent past as the Spaniard lost his place in the squad to Henderson towards the end of the season and has spent the entire Euro 2020 on the bench, with Unai Simon being preferred over the Red Devils keeper.
United have made a bright start to this year’s summer window as the Red Devils completed the signing of their long-term target in Jadon Sancho for a bargain fee of £71 million from Borussia Dortmund.
The former Premier League champions are unlikely to stop with Sancho’s singing, though. It is understood that the 2020/21 Europa League finalists are also keeping a close watch on Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
