Ahead of their return to the UEFA Champions League, the Rossoneri are faced with a minor restructuring of their squad.
According to a report by Antena 2, AC Milan are preparing a 10 million euros move for Everton star James Rodriguez. The Colombian joined the Toffees last summer to be reunited with his former manager Carlo Ancelotti. However, the Italian’s return to Real Madrid has left Rodriguez’s future in doubt, with reports linking him with a move to Italy since.
Rodriguez started the 2020/21 season brightly for Everton and was key to their early push for the top spot. However, his form faltered later in the season, and his team stumbled down to tenth. Rodriguez still has two years left on his contract at Goodison Park but is unlikely to see those out after the departure of Ancelotti.
The Rossoneri are also keen on Sampdoria’s Mikkel Damsgaard, who is currently in the middle of a breakthrough tournament. The 21-year-old has been key to Denmark’s quarter-final run in Euro 2020, scoring two goals in the process.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan are keen to sign Damsgaard after the Euros, but will probably have to cough up a 30 million-plus fee for his services. Milan are also set to bring Brahim Diaz on loan for a second season from Real Madrid.
One feal which hangs in the balance is that of Sandro Tonali. The young Italian midfielder joined the club last summer on loan from Brescia but had a largely disappointing campaign and missed out on a spot in Italy’s Euro 2020 squad.
Milan paid Brescia a 10 million euros downpayment to take Tonali for the season, with 15 million further set aside for his future purchase. Calciomercato reports now that they are only willing to pay 10 million for his services.
