Jadon Sancho’s big-money transfer to Manchester United may force Borussia to bring in reinforcements in wide areas.
The 21-year-old’s move to Manchester United have taken over a year now and finally, it looks like the English club is close to agreeing on a deal with the Black and Yellows.
However, the Bundesliga giants have set a deadline on this transfer so that they can get ample time to look for replacements. Hence Dortmund have been very proactive in their search for replacements as they were sensing that the English winger will leave the club this summer.
Dortmund have recognized Dutchman wide attacker Donyell Malen as their replacement for Sancho. The young winger is a huge prospect and was wanted by some of the top clubs across Europe. United’s arch-rivals Liverpool also made Malen one of their top targets this summer as they are looking to freshen up the wider areas at Anfield.
The highly-rated PSV prospect who is currently representing his nation at the Euros scored a whopping 19 goals and 8 assists in the Eredivisie last season.
He has been sensational for the Netherlands in the Euros as well. He may not have scored a goal, but he has been detrimental to Frank De Boer’s plans for the upcoming matches. Malen is known for his blistering pace, exceptional dribbling and also has an eye for scoring goals.
His attacking traits will completely suit the style of play that Dortmund and their new coach Marco Rose. Apart from his traits, Malen also fits the budget that Dortmund are looking for as they only wanted to use a small chuck from the Sancho transfer money.
The Reds are a little behind the German outfit may still come in the picture. Playing in the Premier League may still entice him, and he may still snub Dortmund to join Jürgen Klopp’s men. However, at Merseyside, the youngster will be seen as a long term replacement for Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. Hence his chances of regular first-team football look very bleak.
