In a bittersweet round of transfer rumours, Paris Saint-Germain are expected to bring in Gianluigi Donnarumma but could end up losing Kylian Mbappe in the future. The latter raised questions about his future recently, as links to Real Madrid persist.
As per Fabrizio Romano, PSG have closed the signing of Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. Last night, the youngster was in Rome, where he kept goal for the Azzurri in the opening match of the 2020 European Championships. Donnarumma will complete his move to PSG as a free agent after AC Milan confirmed that an agreement over his contract extension could not be reached.
PSG beat out competition from Juventus and Barcelona to sign the Italian. The 22-year-old custodian, who made his debut for Milan aged 16, is expected to sign a contract up to June 2026 with the Parisiens. There have been rumors regarding a potential loan to Roma straight away, with Keylor Navas currently occupying the goal in Paris. However, Donnarumma is instead expected to stay in Paris and compete for a starting spot with Navas. He will take his medical in the Italy camp in the coming days.
While the Donnarumma news is likely to delight PSG fans, the same can’t be said about the update on Mbappe’s future – from the player himself. The Frenchman raised fresh concerns over his short and long-term future in an interview with France Football recently, where he is undecided as of now.
“I don’t necessarily need to go fast. I have to make the right decision, which is difficult, and give myself every chance to make up my mind,”
“I am in a place where I like myself, where I feel good. But is this the best place for me? I don’t have the answer yet.
Mbappe told France Football.
Mbappe is linked to Real Madrid’s move, rumours that only grew strong recently when Karim Benzema openly challenged him to play for the club. However, Mbappe stated in his interview that should he decide to leave Paris, he will do so with dignity.
