Sarah Glenn and Freya Davies have been released from England Women’s 17-member Test squad ahead of the one-off Test match against India Women, which is scheduled to take place in Bristol. The duo will return to domestic cricket and play the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.
England Women have trimmed down their Test squad from 17 to 15. Sarah Glenn and Freya Davies have been released ahead of the only Test against India Women. The England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed the same on Friday.
“Sarah Glenn and Freya Davies have been released from the England Women’s Test squad and will both play for their regional teams in this weekend’s Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy matches – in preparation for the ODI series that follows,
” the ECB stated.
Glenn represents the Central Sparks while Davies plays for the South East Stars. CS face Lightning, and SES take on Northern Diamonds in their respective fourth-round games.
Glenn has fared very well in this 50-over domestic competition as the leg-spinner has returned with four wickets at an economy of 3.96. She has even scored 118 runs in three innings at a strike-rate of 120.40. Meanwhile, Davies has had a sedate tournament so far. The 25-year-old pacer has taken just two wickets in three games.
Emily Arlott, who received a maiden international call-up, has been retained in the squad. Meanwhile, Tash Farrant, Mady Villiers and Sophia Dunkley, who are yet to make their Test debut, have also been retained.
England Women will take on India Women in a one-off Test match at the County Ground in Bristol, starting on June 16.
This will be India Women’s first Test match since November 2014. These two sides last squared off in a Test match back in August 2014. The standalone Test match is then succeeded by three ODIs and three T20Is. The three-match ODI series will start on June 27 while the T20Is are scheduled to start on July 9.
