Tottenham Hotspurs, who were looking to appoint Antonio Conte as their new head coach, have now ceased talks due to his reluctance to work with promising young players at the club.
Conte won the Scudetto with Inter Milan last season after two years in the club. However, he was disappointed with the club’s intention of selling star players to raise revenue and therefore resigned at the end of the season.
The Italian, who won five titles in the last decade, was approached by the North London club last week after they failed to bring back their former manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The 51-year-old former Chelsea boss was set to replace Jose Mourinho, who was sacked in April. However, the former was unconvinced that the Lilywhites were vying for trophies due to the transfer budget that he was offered. Consequently, talks broke down, and it is believed that there is no chance of resumption.
Ryan Mason, who was appointed as the interim manager for the remainder of the season, helped the club finish seventh at the end of the season.
Julian Nagelsmann and Brendan Rodgers were also linked with the role previously but have committed their futures to Bayern Munich and Leicester City, respectively.
