Over the last decade, Sergio Aguero made his mark at Manchester City, both on and off the pitch. The striker left the club to join Barcelona recently but not before leaving a barrage of expensive gifts, thanking the City staff.
Sergio Aguero left Manchester to join Barcelona after the former’s defeat in the Champions League final. The Argentine’s impending departure was common news after both the player and the club announced their decisions to part ways towards the end of the previous season.
However, before leaving for Spain, Aguero left a string of expensive gifts for the club staff, including watches, his car, and a considerable cash amount – reveals the Athletic.
Aguero gifted each first-team staff member – around 60 or so – either a Tag Heuer or a Hublot watch. The watches, which range between a thousand to eight thousand pounds, had the words “Gracias! Kun Aguero” engraved on them. Meanwhile, the Argentina international also left all the staff members a raffle ticket for his recently purchased car – a Range Rover Evoque. A City kitman reportedly won the prize, much to the delight of Aguero, the report claims.
Furthermore, Aguero also donated a considerable amount of money to a cash pot that would be used to buy presents at Christmas. City players add to the cash pot twice a year. Aguero is said to have contributed an amount that was far above what is usually common. The striker subsequently left to join his friend and international teammate Lionel Messi in Barcelona.
Aguero’s association with Manchester City came to an end after a decade full of trophies. The Argentina international won five Premier League titles during this period and became the club’s all-time leading scorer. Aguero also broke several league records, including most goals by a foreigner, most goals for a single club, and most hattricks in league history. His most memorable moment in City shirt came during his debut season with the club when he scored what would be the title-winning goal in stoppage time of the final game of the season.
