India’s dependable No.3 batsman, Cheteshwar Pujara, provided a glimpse of his team’s specially designed jersey for the upcoming WTC final against New Zealand.
With Team India due to lock horns with the Kiwis in Southampton from June 18 for the ultimate glory, players have been giving a peek into the new cricket kit via their official social media handles on Twitter and Instagram.
On Saturday, Cheteshwar Pujara shared a picture of the new jersey, featuring a tinge of blue with ‘ICC WTC Final 2021′ written below the batsman’s shoulder. In the picture, where he could be seen in his stance with the bat held high, the 33-year-old was observed to be wearing the jersey that has captured the fans’ attention and got them feeling excited.
Pujara is currently undergoing the pre-tour quarantine in Mumbai along with the rest of the Indian Test squad. After the completion of the isolation phase in Mumbai, Team India will enter another period of seclusion once they reach the United Kingdom on June 3 – just a couple of weeks ahead of the all-important clash against New Zealand. Since they are shifting from one bubble to the other, the tourists have been given the exemption to train during the second phase of isolation.
After the end of the WTC final, the Indian players will remain in the UK through July and play intra-squad matches ahead of the five-Test series against England, beginning August 4 at Trent Bridge. The following four Test matches will be played at Lord’s (August 12-16), Headingley (August 25-29), The Oval (September 2-6) and Manchester (September 10-14), respectively.
For Pujara, the tour provides a fantastic opportunity to bounce back strongly after a poor home series when England visited India in February-March. The stoic right-hand batsman has historically tended to produce his best when the conditions are at their toughest, including the trip to Australia earlier this year.
