The Red Devils are joined by Everton and Paris Saint Germain in the race for the England international.
The Englishman is currently enjoying his second season in Spain, having signed for the Rojiblancos two summers ago from Tottenham Hotspur. However, with his deal set to expire a year later, the 30-year-old could seal a swift return to England.
Trippier has enjoyed a stellar season with Atletico Madrid as they look to lift their first LaLiga title since 2014. The England international has been a key player for Diego Simeone, who has used him either as a full-back or a wing-back on the right-hand side. The former Spurs man has registered six assists in 27 starts for the Rojiblancos in the league this season and is one of their most potent players going forward.
Nevertheless, Trippier could return to England this summer with Man United keen to sign him. The Red Devils are looking to bring in a backup right-back, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka currently occupying the starting spot.
Everton are also in the hunt for a player who fits that profile, with their only option being the veteran defender, Seamus Coleman. Everton have had to play a centre-back – Mason Holgate or Ben Godfrey – in that position whenever Coleman is out injured.
Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in signing Trippier. They are currently coached by his former manager Mauricio Pochettino, who is looking to bolster the right-back position ahead of next season. PSG are also keen on Hector Bellerin, Alessandro Florenzi, and Serge Aurier.
Trippier’s preference is a move back to England as per the report. Atletico Madrid and Diego Simeone are keen for Trippier to continue his stint in Spain and sign a new contract. Nonetheless, it remains to be seen how this situation plays out.
