In a recent development, Roma has parted ways with its manager, Daniele De Rossi, just four matches into the new Serie A season.
The decision comes after Roma‘s start without a win, as the team ended three matches in a draw and a crushing home defeat to Empoli. Currently sitting 16th in the Serie A standings, Roma’s latest setback was a 1-1 draw against Genoa on Sunday, September 15.
De Rossi was appointed earlier this year in January, replacing José Mourinho, who had initially seen an impressive turnaround at the Stadio Olimpico. His tenure as the manager kicked off with a remarkable run of just one loss in his first 11 league games, helping the team climb from ninth to fifth place on the standings.
That impeccable form led Roma to a spot in the Europa League after they finished at sixth in the last season. De Rossi also led the team to the Europa League semifinals, where they were unfortunately knocked out by Bayer Leverkusen.
However, Roma‘s struggles just at the beginning of the season have left the club’s top-order management worried, leading to the decision to sack him. The club released an official statement regarding parting ways with Daniele De Rossi.
“The club’s decision is taken in the interest of the team, to be able to promptly resume the desired path at a time when the season is still at its beginning. To Daniele, who will always be at home in the Giallorossi club, a heartfelt thanks for the work carried out in these months with passion and dedication.”

De Rossi‘s brief managerial career at Roma followed his illustrious playing career, where he spent 22 years with the club, making 616 appearances. He was also part of Italy‘s 2006 World Cup-winning squad.
Roma had an active performance during the recently concluded transfer window. The club signed last season’s La Liga top scorer Artem Dovbyk from Girona along with Mats Hummels.
They also saw key departures, as the defender Chris Smalling moved to the Saudi Pro League club Al-Fayha, Tammy Abraham joined AC Milan on loan, and Romelu Lukaku headed to Napoli. Other players’ exits were Andrea Belotti’s moving to Como, Rui Patricio’s transferring to Atlanta, and Leonardo Spinazzola’s moving to Napoli.
