The Tamil Nadu Premier League is the premier T20 tournament played in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. The first edition of TNPL was played in 2016 and it is going to be the sixth season of the tournament this year. The 2020 edition of the tournament, however, was cancelled like most other sporting activities around the world that year due to obvious reasons.
Many current India players like Dinesh Karthik, Ravichandran Ashwin, Murali Vijay and Washington Sundar have been featuring regularly in the TNPL over the years and that has kept on enhancing the reputation of the tournament. The league has also made the careers of many players like Varun Chakravarthy, who shone with their skills here and then made their way to the Indian Premier League and the Indian team subsequently. Many youngsters will be looking to grab the attention of IPL scouts once again as the sixth edition of the tournament kickstarts on 23rd June.
Teams
A total of eight teams will feature in the Tamil Nadu Premier League, representing eight districts in the state. The eight teams featuring in the league over the years are:

Results of 2021
The 2021 TNPL season turned out to be a spectacular event once again. The Ruby Trichy Warriors finished at the top of the TNPL Points Table in the league stage whereas Chepauk Super Gillies finished second. The Dindigul Dragons and Lyca Kovai Kings were the two other teams who made it to the play-offs at the third and fourth positions respectively. The Trichy Warriors and Super Gillies locked horns in the first Qualifier, with the former emerging as the winners and making their way to the final.
The Super Gillies, on the other hand, had to go through the second Qualifier once again where they beat Dindigul Dragons by eight wickets. Although the Warriors dominated the Super Gillies in the first Playoff game, the two-time Champions put their best foot forward in the final to emerge as the winners once again. Chepauk won by eight runs and Narayan Jagadeesan was the star of the match as he played a superb knock of 90 off just 58 deliveries at the top of the order.
