The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League turned out to be a very exciting season. Gujarat Titans, who made their IPL debut this season, were crowned Champions. The Titans, under the leadership of Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, dominated throughout the season and turned out to be the deserved winners in the end. Many players turned up with match-winning performances for them but there were other players too, who couldn’t power their team to the title but kept producing individual brilliance throughout the tournament. Here, we shall take a look at the best players from the IPL 2022 season.
Best IPL Players of 2022 – Rating them
Hardik Pandya – 10/10
Talk about scoring heaps of runs, taking vital wickets or leading your team to glory, Hardik Pandya ticked all the boxes with his performance in IPL 2022. The Indian all-rounder amassed 487 runs during the season, the highest among all Gujarat Titans batters, at an average of 44.27, and also claimed eight important wickets, including bowling figures of 3/17 in the final. His superb all-round performance helped the Titans in winning the IPL title in their maiden season and that’s why he is the only player with an IPL 2022 rating of 10.
Jos Buttler – 9.5/10
Buttler batted like a man possessed in IPL 2022. He set the record for the most runs scored by an overseas batter in an IPL season as he amassed a total of 863 runs at an outstanding average of 57.33 and an excellent strike rate of 149.05. Only Virat Kohli has scored more runs than Buttler in an IPL season, but Buttler’s efforts were still not enough to lead Rajasthan Royals to the title. They lost to Gujarat Titans in the final. KL Rahul – 9.5/10
Rahul maintained his consistency in this season once again. The Indian batter led the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022 and amassed 616 runs for them, at a superb average of 51.33. He scored two centuries and four fifties as well, and that sums up how well he batted. Rahul was also the captain of his team and led them from the front to the playoffs. He is the second player in our list with a IPL 2022 rating of 9.5.
David Miller – 9/10
The experienced South African batter pulled off one chase after another for Gujarat Titans this IPL season. Miller amassed 481 runs during the season and averaged a stunning 68.71, along with a strike rate of over 140. He played crucial knocks in both of their knock-out encounters and also delivered consistent performances throughout the league stage, that too in a demanding role and situation. That’s why there is no surprise to see his name in the IPL player ranking.
Andre Russell – 9/10
The Caribbean all-rounder enjoyed a brilliant season once again, although his team Kolkata Knight Riders couldn’t make it to the playoffs. Russell fired with both bat and ball. He was their second highest run-scorer with 335 runs to his name at an average of 37.22 and a mind-boggling strike rate of 174.47. Russell was also KKR’s highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets to his name at an average of 16.35.
Yuzvendra Chahal – 9/10
The Indian wrist-spinner proved his worth yet again after a tough couple of years. Chahal’s move to Rajasthan Royals worked wonders as he ended up as the Purple Cap winner for claiming the highest number of wickets in the season. Chahal claimed 27 wickets at an average of 19.51 and thus paved Rajasthan’s way to the IPL 2022 final.
Wanindu Hasaranga – 9/10
The Sri Lankan wrist-spinner was equally brilliant as Chahal. Hasaranga finished the season with 26 wickets to his name at an even better average of 16.53. His economy rate of 7.54 was also better than Chahal but he played a match less and thus missed out on winning the Purple Cap. Hasaranga’s figures of 5/18 against Sunrisers Hyderabad was also the second best bowling figures registered in IPL 2022. Only Jasprit Bumrah registered better bowling figures of 5/10.
Dinesh Karthik – 8.5/10
He had a stellar season and surely one to remember. Karthik showed how superior his finishing skills are as he kept delivering with cameos consistently for RCB. Karthik bailed them out of numerous tricky situations and amassed a total of 330 runs at a superb strike rate of 183.33. The fact that he scored those runs at an average of 55 sums up how well he batted. His innings of unbeaten 66 off just 34 deliveries against Delhi Capitals was a treat to watch.
Liam Livingstone – 8.5/10
The hard-hitting England batter lit up this IPL season with his fireworks. Livingstone amassed 437 runs in IPL 2022 at a sensational strike rate of 182.08 and average of 36.42. That includes four fifties as well. He also claimed six wickets with his part-time spin, thus helping Punjab Kings with crucial breakthroughs in the middle overs. His spell of 3/27 against Delhi Capitals helped his team immensely. People stayed hooked to 1xBet live cricket when Livingstone batted.
Umran Malik – 8/10
The young pace bowling sensation caught everyone’s attention this season. Malik notched up speeds of over 150 km/h regularly throughout the season and thus made life difficult for the batters. It was exciting to see an Indian pacer bowling at that speed and Malik picked up 22 wickets as well, at an outstanding strike rate of 13.4. His spells helped Sunrisers Hyderabad in winning many games, which otherwise could have turned into losses.
