The Blues are reportedly looking to secure the services of Real Madrid outcast Brahim Diaz and they would be willing to splash nearly 25m pounds to acquire the Spaniard’s signature. Diaz who is currently on loan at AC Milan is a reported target of Graham Potter’s side. As per a report in the Mirror, the fringe player’s future remains uncertain despite having impressed on his two-year loan deal at the San Siro.
While the Rossoneri do have the option to buy Diaz permanently from Real Madrid for a fee of 19million at the end of this season, Los Blancos would want to recoup a fee near to what they paid Man City to secure the forward’s services in the first place.
Stefano Pioli’s side are looking at a figure of 21 million and would not want to pay any more than that which could open up a possible door for Diaz’s potential return to England with Chelsea.
Under new owner Todd Boehly, the free-spending Blues are looking to swoop in and hijack the deal before Milan can snap up the Spaniard. Newcastle are another side who are been rumoured to be keeping tabs on Brahim although any potential has been complicated by Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Ancelotti has made it clear that he considers Brahim a fringe player and as long as the Italian is at the helm, the youngster might not get a chance to shine in the Spanish capital. However, should Ancelotti leave the Spanish club at the end of this season, or if he might get sacked then it could open up the doors for Diaz’s return to Real Madrid.
As per reports, the higher-ups in the Spanish Capital want to extend Brahim’s contract to 2027, and it remains to be seen whether he decides to stay put in Milan or move back to the Premier League with either Chelsea or Newcastle United. Either way, only Los Blancos will decide what the future holds for the 23-year-old.
In a total of 31 appearances across all competitions, the Spaniard has amassed five goals and two assists.
