A breathtaking drone footage depicts Argentina supporters lining the streets of Qatar to celebrate La Albiceleste’s FIFA World Cup victory. On Sunday, Lionel Scaloni and company defeated defending champions France on penalties to take home the biggest prize in football.
An emotional Lionel Messi revealed his joy at finally holding the Cup in his post-game interview. The captain added that he was eager to get back home and take part in the festivities.
“We can’t wait to be in Argentina to see how crazy the celebrations is going to be.”
As fans have already started their crazed celebrations, it appears like the FIFA World Cup champions will be late to the celebration. Following the victory for the nation, hundreds of thousands of supporters flocked to Buenos Aires to celebrate.
Fans all over the world have had a taste of the celebrations thanks to the drone footage that Argentinean filmmaker Ale Petra released on his Instagram.
Even on top of streetlights and other posts in the streets, supporters may be seen basking in the glory brought home by the Argentina side, who did not trail at any point during the tournament after their opening game shock against Saudi Arabia.
It was a stunning campaign from the Albiceleste, who came in to the tournament as favourites with enormous pressure, but were perhaps not the strongest side in terms of their squad. However, Scaloni marshalled his troops to perfection and executed his tactical plans to the best possible extent, switching between a back four and a back five from time to time.
His decision to start the more attacking Nicholas Tagliafico and switch over Angel Di Maria over to the left flank, allowing Rodrigo de Paul to drift towards the right while outnumbering the French midfield, was only a glimpse of the terrific coach’s effective plans.
