India’s wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik has heaped praises on his fellow RCB teammate Shahbaz Ahmed ahead of the first ODI on India’s tour of Bangladesh. Karthik is keen to see the all-rounder play at international level and expects him to replicate his Indian Premier League performance earlier this year.
Representing Royal Challengers Bangalore, the cricketer played a crucial role in the middle order as the only left hander in the side. He made 219 runs at an average of 27.37 and strike rate of 121 while picking four wickets with his left-arm spin.
The 27-year-old made his debut for India in the recent ODI series against South Africa, picking three wickets in two games. The all-rounder has had success in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as well, bagging 11 wickets in six games at an economy rate of 4.87.
Speaking to Cricbuzz, Karthik said he’s looking forward to Virat Kohli in action after gaining his form and how KL Rahul does in the middle order.
“I am really looking forward to, obviously, I am very keen on having a look at how a KL Rahul adapts in the middle order and how a Virat Kohli is gonna go, because he is coming back after a break and a fabulous World Cup,”
the veteran said.
“I am also really keen to see Shahbaz Ahmed. I think he is a special player; he has done really well for RCB, against South Africa; he has done well, and I am really looking forward to see him go in that ODI series,”
he added.
