Ex-Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has advised his former club to take a good look at and possibly sign Declan Rice from West Ham United. The midfielder is valued at close to 150 million pounds by the Hammers.
Rice, 23, has already become one of the most coveted midfielders in the Premier League, and every transfer window, there is the sense that a big move for him to a major European club is on the cards.
The England international could just as well prove to be a viable alternative to Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, who has also been on the radar of the Merseyside-based outfit for a long time.
Bellingham has established himself as one of the most prolific young midfielders in Europe alongside Pedri, Gavi, and Jamal Musiala. However, competition for his signature is expected to be intense, with plenty of clubs jumping at the opportunity to prise him away from Dortmund. Real Madrid have emerged as the favourites to land him according to latest reports.
A deal will not be cheap, however, as Dortmund have also slapped a price tag of over 150 million pounds for Bellingham’s services. The 19-year-old had been the subject of interest for Liverpool over the past two transfer windows but they have decided to play the long game and wait for him instead.
If the acquisition of Bellingham proves to be too difficult, Liverpool could always turn their attention towards Rice, as advised by Fowler.
“The [Jude] Bellingham link is brilliant because he’s a very good player. Another player who I really like is Declan Rice, he fits into a Liverpool mould.
Whether Liverpool are looking at players to come in, they have to have a certain amount of pedigree, those players need to have lots of energy. And I do think Rice fits that bill, he’s a player who sits in the middle of the park but he can get around the pitch with his endeavour as well,”
the former East Bengal manager told FairBettingSites.
Rice has 212 senior appearances for West Ham and 34 caps for the national side. He was also made West Ham club captain this season when Mark Noble decided to retire last season.
