Napoli’s winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has turned quite a few heads this season with a series of outstanding performances. Luciano Spalletti’s side are on top of the Serie A table, two points ahead of Atalanta, who are also unbeaten in the league. Napoli, however, have an extra victory and seem to be cruising to the title if they can keep this sort of form up.
Napoli’s successes can majorly be attributed to star signing Kvaratskhelia, who has been on a different level this season. The Georgian international has been Napoli’s best player, bagging three goals and five assists, consistently dropping man-of-the-match performances. Kvaratskhelia had two goals and two assists in Napoli’s home and away the destruction of AFC Ajax, picking up the man of the match award in the home fixture.
The 21-year-old was also the best player on the pitch against Bologna in Napoli’s most recent league, creating a massive three big chances in a standout performance.
On the back of his sensational start to the season, Kvaratskhelia, who had been on the transfer list of many big European clubs during his stint in Dinamo Batumi, where he burst onto the scene, has attracted the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, who are reportedly making inquiries about the player.
Kvaratskhelia’s explosive style of play has been incredibly difficult for teams to prepare against, which is accurately reflected in the statistics. The Georgian is third in the league for goal contributions, only behind Serie A and Lazio veterans Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Ciro Immobile.
Kvaratskhelia has fifteen goal contributions in just over 1000 minutes of playing time. Given that Napoli have locked him down until 2027, a bid to secure his services is definitely going to cost an astronomical amount of money. While sources suggest that Napoli would demand a massive fee to let go of the Georgian, the general consensus has it that the Gliazzurri consider him ‘untouchable’.
