Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga was named to the 20-man shortlist for the Golden Boy award, which recognises the best player under 21 in European football.
The player appeared to be the favourite to win the award a few months ago, but Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham seems to be leading the race after his impressive performances for Borussia Dortmund this season.

Last year’s winner, Barcelona’s Pedri, was nominated again this year, along with two of his teammates. While Pedri remains a starter for Barcelona, his chances may be hampered by the fact that he has missed much of the season due to a hamstring injury.
Instead, Gavi and Ansu Fati could represent the LaLiga giants, who are in desperate need of a boost after their Champions League debacle. Both players have seen significant playing time under Xavi this season, despite facing stiff competition.
Some of that competition could come from the Premier League, as two Premier League stars have been nominated. The first is Fabio Carvalho, who helped Fulham win the Championship last season before joining Liverpool. The 20-year-old has established himself as a regular option off the bench for the Reds, scoring two goals so far. Wilfried Gnonto, who joined Leeds United in the summer transfer window, is the second Premier League representative.
The Bundesliga received the most nominations, with six players from Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, and Bayern Munich making the cut. La Liga has five nominees, with Camavinga and Valencia midfielder Nico Gonzalez joining the three Barcelona players already mentioned.
In addition to the Bundesliga and La Liga, Serie A is well-represented, with four nominations. They are led by AS Roma star Nicola Zalewski, who has emerged as a key player at the Stadio Olimpico under Jose Mourinho.
Fabio Miretti, a Juventus midfielder who has become a regular for the Old Lady, is also included. Iyenoma Udogie of Udinese and Giorgio Scalvini of Atalanta round out the Italian top-flight nominations.
Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Benjamin Sesko makes the list after being heavily linked with a summer move to Manchester United. Notably, French giants Paris Saint-Germain has only one nominee in the form of left-back Nuno Mendes.
