Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola claims that Arsenal have been better than his side and has showered praise on the Gunners for their impressive start to the Premier League campaign. The Citizens are just one point behind the north London outfit in the league and have scored 29 goals in just eight matches.
The Citizens have won six of their matches while drawing twice, while Mikel Arteta’s side have won seven of their eight games, losing only once to Manchester United.
The defending Premier League champions are the only undefeated side in England at the moment. They have also scored the most number of goals at 29, which has mostly been spearheaded by new signing Erling Haaland, who has already gotten to 14 Premier League goals in just eight matches.
The Gunners are on top of the table and they have scored the second highest number of goals at 20. Besides their solitary loss to United, they have won all of their game and sit at 21 points.
Speaking ahead of their match against Southampton in the Premier League, Guardiola said Arsenal are better than them since they are still leading the league.
“We cannot forget one thing ladies and gentlemen. There is one team that has been better than us. This is the reality. The reality is Arsenal has been better than us so far. We are not top of the league. It’s important to be there and to fight to arrive there,”
said Guardiola.
He also went on to praise Haaland for the brilliant season he’s having and mentioned that he has become an option to open up tight games.
“In general, we played really good football all these years. Now we have the sense that we have a guy up front that in one moment can open a lot the game. It’s normal six or seven years, every year we are a little bit better in some terms,”
he added.
