CSK batsman Suresh Raina, who missed the last season of the IPL citing personal reasons, claimed that an all-rounder like Ravindra Jadeja must be a part of the Indian team in all three formats as he can contribute in all three facets of the game.
Ace all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja delivered a memorable performance in his team’s last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Jadeja played a pivotal role with the bat, ball and in the field to thrash the table-toppers by 69 runs.
The southpaw smashed 62 runs in just 28 balls to guide his team to 191 on a pitch where 165-170 appeared to be a par score. Moreover, the left armer’s magic continued when he came down to bowl. He dismissed Washington Sundar, Glenn Maxwell, and AB de Villiers and also bowled a maiden over to take his team to a monumental win.
He also played a crucial role in running out Dan Christian. The all-rounder mightily impressed his teammate Suresh Raina who couldn’t help but shower praises on him. Speaking about Jadeja’s performance on CSK TV, Suresh Raina claimed that Jadeja deserves to play all three formats of the game.
“He’s been batting really well, he’s been bowling really well, and he has taken 7 or 8 catches till now. Someone like Jadeja has to be in all three formats.
“I think he is one person who can really change the momentum,” he said.
Raina said in a video posted on CSK’s social media handle.
Raina and Jadeja have been playing together for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL since 2011. Raina has been a part of the team since 2008 while Jadeja joined the men in yellow back in 2011. After CSK received a temporary suspension from the IPL in 2016, Jadeja and Raina played together for the Gujarat Lions.
Raina also claimed that it is a privilege for a captain to have a player like Jadeja in the squad who can contribute in more than one manner.
