Despite Liverpool’s stuttering start to the season, manager Jurgen Klopp is not fearful of getting the sack. The German believes he has the club’s backing at present, unlike some other teams.
As his compatriot Thomas Tuchel was sacked by Chelsea, Klopp reiterated that Liverpool still has faith in him despite a shaky start to the season. The Reds are a place and a point behind the Blues in the Premier League after six games and lost their 2022/23 UEFA Champions League opener 4-1 at Napoli, but Klopp states that the club hierarchy still believes in him to be the one to turn things around.
“Not really. Our owners are rather calm and expect me to sort the situation and not think someone else will,”
he said.
As per Klopp, Liverpool will need to reinvent themselves again to get out of the early-season rut. They started the season with two draws and a defeat but had corrected their form with back-to-back wins and a draw before Napoli put four past them within 47 minutes at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona.

The tactician was also critical of his side, claiming that their next opponents (Wolves in the Premier League) might take confidence from the fact that the Merseysiders haven’t had the best of starts to the season.
“It looks like we need to reinvent ourselves. There’s a lot of things lacking. We have to try to find a set up to be much better in pretty much everything.”
“In three days, we play Wolves. When they saw the game, they cannot stop laughing probably. They were probably thinking that’s the perfect moment [to play Liverpool]. I would say it’s the perfect moment.”
After Wolverhampton, Liverpool face a visit from AFC Ajax for their second Champions League group game. Chelsea – with new manager Graham Potter in the dugout – await them the weekend after, before players disperse for the season’s first international break.
