Last season’s losing finalists Chelsea have been drawn to face Manchester City in the third round of the 2022/23 Carabao Cup.
Meanwhile, Manchester United will take on Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa, and Liverpool, who beat the Blues on penalties to secure the cup earlier this year, will face League One’s Derby County to begin their title defence.
Former Liverpool captain Gerrard will take his Aston Villa side to Manchester United for their third-round match – the Villans sealed a spot in the draw courtesy of a big win over Bolton Wanderers in the previous stage.
In other all-Premier League ties, Arsenal will face Brighton, with the Seagulls in fine form after a 3-0 win over Forest Green Rovers in Round 2, new signing Deniz Undav among the scorers.
Leeds United, who beat Barnsley 3-1, will face Wolves after Bruno Lage’s men narrowly avoided defeat against lower-tier Preston.
Tottenham Hotspur are set to face Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth will take on Everton, and Newcastle will welcome Crystal Palace to round up the top division draws.
Meanwhile, Leicester City will hope to ease into round four of the tournament after stumbling into the third round draw on penalties. The Foxes will host Newport County for a spot in the round of 16.
Southampton will lock horns with Sheffield Wednesday, and Brentford will be up against Gillingham, with the matches set to be played in the second week of November as things stand.
