The Blues are willing to let Marcos Alonso move the other way in addition to some cash to complete the transfer.
The Blues have been craving for a goal machine in front of the lineup, but their recent acquisitions have not been up to the mark. As per the latest reports, they believe that Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can solve Thomas Tuchel’s issues and can help the club mount a title challenge.
The Londoners have proposed a 15 million pound fee to get hold of the striker and are ready to offer wingback Marcos Alonso, who has been long linked with a switch to Camp Nou. The Spaniard has fallen out of favour, with Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella taking the LWB position for themselves. After struggling to complete the transfer previously, Barcelona are believed to have cooled their interest in Alonso.
The six-time Champions League winners are yet to register one of their summer acquisitions Jules Kounde, and are expecting a sum around 27 million euros from Chelsea for Aubameyang in order to complete that registration. Some reporters have mentioned previously that Barca will only accept cash in exchange for the striker, which makes the upcoming conversations even more interesting.
David Ornstein of The Athletic reported that Chelsea’s latest proposal could get the deal done, and the Catalans are considering it. The Gabonese international, who previously worked with Tuchel at Dortmund, has already agreed on personal terms with the club and that will not be an issue.
This is a deal Chelsea have been desperate to close down as they are currently lacking that firepower presence in a number nine role. This position has been a historic concern for the club, with plenty of big signings like Fernando Torres, Radamel Falcao, Gonzalo Higuain and Alvaro Morata failing to bring the expected outcome.
Their two big money acquisitions in recent times, Timo Werner (permanent deal) and Romelu Lukaku (loan), have left the club this summer. Both these players have struggled to win the fans’ trust ever since they came in. The Londoners have picked up four points in their opening two games, and there was a clear gap up front.
