Premier League newcomers Fulham have made midfielder Andreas Pereira their second signing of the season. The Brazilian playmaker has joined the Cottagers on a four-year contract from Manchester United, where he spent his formative years, for a fee reported to be in the region of 10 million pounds plus add-ons.
Having spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Flamengo, the 26-year-old the Red Devils after 11 years, two of which he spent with the first team. Throughout his time at the club, he made 75 appearances and scored four goals.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace have added RC Lens’ breakout star Cheick Doucoure to their squad ahead of the 2022/23 season. Palace have paid the Ligue 1 side a fee in the region of 18 million pounds plus add-ons to transfer the rights of the central midfielder, who becomes their third signing of the season after Malcolm Ebiowei and Sam Johnstone.
22-year-old Doucoure joins Palace after 137 appearances for Lens’ first and second team – and eight goals. One of the top performers in the 2021/22 Ligue 1 season, the expectations are high from Doucoure, who, as per Palace chairman Steve Parish, has what it takes to make it big in the Premier League.
“We are extremely confident that Cheick will adapt seamlessly to the rigors of the Premier League and that he will contribute positively to the squad, and I wish him all the very best for his time with us,”
Parish told the club website.
Aston Villa, too, are pressing on with their summer business. The Villans confirmed on Monday evening that an agreement is in place with LaLiga outfit Sevilla for the loan transfer of left-back Ludwig Augustinsson. The 46-cap Swede has joined the club temporarily, but the deal to take him to England also contains a buy option set at 4.5 million euros.
Augustinsson has become Villa’s fifth signing of the season, following Diego Carlos, Boubacar Kamara, Philippe Coutinho, and Robin Olsen in through the doors.
