Arsenal’s hopes of signing loanee Martin Odegaard on a permanent deal this summer have taken a huge blow. According to Marca, Real Madrid consider the Norwegian to be among the four ‘untouchable’ youngsters at the club, whom they won’t sell at any price.
Spanish outlet reports that Real Madrid will not sell the 22-year-old this summer at any price. The Norwegian attacker has been on loan at Arsenal since January 2021, where he has impressed with his performances. While Arsenal would have hoped to make Odegaard’s loan deal permanent in the upcoming transfer window, it seems that that would not be the case, as Real consider him one of the ‘untouchable’ youngsters.
Along with Odegaard, Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, and Federico Valverde are the young players Real Madrid think will play an important role in their future. As such, those four players are not for sale. Apart from the quartet, Los Blancos will also not entertain offers for key first-team members Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois, Casemiro, and Toni Kroos.
The club wants to keep Odegaard despite the player’s fractured relationship with head coach Zinedine Zidane. The Norwegian attacker will not be sold even if Zidane continues to be at the club next season.
However, the Spanish giants are indeed looking to generate revenue from player sales. They have been linked with moves for both Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland in recent weeks but need money to make their move. As such, players like Mariano Diaz, Alvaro Odriozola, and Luka Jovic will be offered to other clubs. Meanwhile, the likes of Gareth Bale, Isco, and Marcelo will be allowed to leave the club for free, allowing for some space in Real Madrid’s financial books.
Furthermore, the club could entertain offers for the central defender Raphael Varane. The Frenchman’s contract will expire next year, and the club fears that he will now sign a renewal. As such, the upcoming window is Real Madrid’s final opportunity to make a profit on him, otherwise, they risk losing him on a free transfer. Los Blancos will demand 70 million Euros from any Varane suitors – money which they could then reinvest in the likes of Jules Kounde or Pau Torres.
