Chelsea are reportedly edging closer in landing Sevilla star Jules Kounde after agreeing personal terms over a switch to Stamford Bridge.
As per transfer guru Andreas Korssund, the player has agreed personal terms with the Blues who are ready to meet Sevilla’s asking price. And it is understood that Sevillistas are seeking a fee in the region of 60 million pounds.
The Blues have for long been admirers of the French defender and had even tried to sign the player last year. The 2021 UEFA Champions League winners have revived their interest in the 23-year-old with Thomas Tuchel desperate to bolster his defence amid rumours of a number of Chelsea defenders leaving the club.
While Antonio Rudiger is set to depart as a free agent to join La Liga champions Real Madrid, Andres Christensen is touted to join Los Blancos’ eternal rivals FC Barcelona on a Bosman transfer. Meanwhile, Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso are also expected to leave for Camp Nou.
Chelsea are said to have already secured the services of Kounde with the former Bordeaux man keen to link up with the West London outfit.
The central defender has been a key player for the La Liga team this season, scoring three goals and one assists in 43 games in all competitions. He has been instrumental in helping the Julen Loptegui led Sevilla secure a place in the Champions League next term. Prior to the move to La Liga, Kounde also played two seasons in the Ligue 1 with Bordeaux.
The Los Hispalenses are currently fourth in the points table heading into the final game of the campaign. They could however finish third should they beat Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid lose against Real Sociedad.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will now just hope that the Todd Boehly takeover can go through as soon as possible so that the uncertainty surrounding the club ends soon.
