The Kylian Mbappe transfer saga is coming to an end. The player himself claims that he has almost made a decision regarding his future – the expectation is that he starts next season in Madrid rather than Paris.
Mbappe was named Ligue 1’s player of the season for a third year running after helping his side reclaim the French crown, but, while collecting his award at the ceremony, the forward hinted that his stay at Paris Saint Germain might be coming to an end. Linked with Real Madrid since last summer – when Los Blancos submitted a 200 million euros offer for the forward only to be snubbed by PSG – the 23-year-old is reaching the end of his contract next month, and the expectation is that he will leave for Spain once that happens.
“I will give my decision very quickly. It’s almost over. My choice is almost made.”
he said during the ceremony.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed that talks between the player’s representatives and Real Madrid have advanced considerably in the past few days, despite reports earlier this month claiming that he was about to make a shocking u-turn and commit to PSG for another two years.
An offer from the Parisians is on the table, but, as per the Italian, Real Madrid are confident that Mbappe will reject the extension and sign for them in the coming days.
Romano’s report was backed by rumors coming out of Spain that claimed Mbappe and Real Madrid had found a complete agreement during the previous week itself. The club’s general director Jose Angel Sanchez ensured that a deal was closed when the player visited Madrid recently; he will sign a five-year contract with the Spanish champions, accepting a lower annual wage than what he was offered in Paris.
Furthermore, as per journalist Alessandro Alciato, Real Madrid will announce the signing of Mbappe before they play the UEFA Champions League Final. Los Blancos are up against Premier League side Liverpool for the trophy – which will be handed out on May 28 in Paris.
