Real Madrid are preparing to present breakout star Vinicius Jr with a new long-term offer that would tie him down to the club until 2028. But, before that, the club will extend the contract of metronome Luka Modric.
21 goals and 16 assists in all competitions have helped Vinicius Jr prove doubters wrong in his breakthrough season at Real Madrid following his transfer four years ago from Flamengo. The 21-year-old has scored more and assisted more this season than his three previous, combined, and often worked well in tandem with the talismanic Karim Benzema, the rewards of which have been reaped by the club who won its 35th league title earlier this month and is in the final of the UEFA Champions League.
To reward Vinicius for his incredible performances across the course of the season, Real Madrid are preparing to offer him a contract extension. As per Marca, Los Blancos are ready to increase the Brazilian’s salary from 4 million euros per annum to 10 million net, while raising his release clause from 350 million to a billion. This new contract will tie Vinicius down to the Bernabeu until 2028, making his position as one of the club’s key assets clear.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are also readying Luka Modric’s contract extension, reports Fabrizio Romano. The 36-year-old is without a contract this summer; his previous one – that he signed last summer – coming to an end. However, the club sees the playmaker as a key part of their immediate future and are ready to tie him down for another season. His new deal will expire in June 2023.
Not only do Real Madrid’s plans include Vinicius and Modric, but also Eden Hazard. Manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed the same to the media, putting a premature end to any speculation linking the Belgian with a summer exit. Los Blancos are also preparing to welcome Hazard’s former Chelsea teammate Antonio Rudiger to the Bernabeu, after multiple sources confirmed that a four-year deal between the two parties is locked in – despite interest from elsewhere.
