Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni was seen biting the willow during the match against Delhi Capitals. According to his former teammate Amit Mishra, that’s Dhoni’s way of keeping the bat clean.
MS Dhoni has been producing some majestic finishing touches in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2022 for CSK. He has also taken over the captaincy from Ravindra Jadeja midway through the tournament and has led the side to two victories in three games.
The superstar of the game has his own habits as was spotted during the match against Delhi Capitals. The 40-year-old was seen biting his bat before he came out to bat on Sunday evening.
Dhoni’s former teammate Mishra has been very active on social media. He wasted no time to come forward and explain this habit of Dhoni. The veteran leg-spinner said that Dhoni practices this in order to maintain his bat clean and that you would never find one piece out of place on his blade.
“In case you’re wondering why Dhoni often ‘eats’ his bat. He does that to remove tape of the bat as he likes his bat to be clean. You won’t see a single piece of tape or thread coming out of MS’s bat,”
the former DC and SRH cricketer tweeted.
Dhoni was superb with the bat in the game against DC as he hammered an unbeaten 21 off just eight balls to take the team’s score to 208/6 at DY Patil Stadium. His knock included two sixes and a four with a strike rate of 262.5.
Devon Conway led a great foundation with his third consecutive fifty in the season, scoring 87 off 49. CSK showed a glimpse of their old dominance as they rolled over the Capitals for just 117 to win the match by 91 runs.
Meanwhile, Mishra found no buyers in the 2022 IPL auction despite the league expanding to 10 teams. He then informed Delhi Capitals that he’d be available for the franchise in any capacity.
