Aurelien Tchouameni’s future is likely to dominate the 2022 summer transfer window, with the AS Monaco breakthrough star attracting interest from several of Europe’s top clubs. As per 90MIN, Real Madrid and Liverpool have positioned themselves strongly as they look to fend off their counterparts and sign the 22-year-old. Both the clubs have lodged their interest with Monaco, but they are yet to formally bid for the player.
Given the widespread appeal of their midfielder, Monaco are likely to stand by their valuation of 60 million euros this summer. While that may appeal to certain super clubs, rumours indicate Real Madrid would like to bring the price down and pay close to 40 million, a sum that he is currently rated at by Transfermarkt. Notably, the player is also keen on a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Chelsea, too, have been long linked with the Frenchman. However, the Blues’ current predicament means that any summer targets will have to wait until their ownership situation is resolved. The club explored the option of signing Tchouameni last summer but ultimately decided against making a loan-to-buy offer and opted to bring in Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid temporarily instead.
Tchouameni’s list of admirers runs even further. According to the report, the France international has caught the eye of both the Manchester giants – City and United – while Bayern Munich are monitoring the situation from afar.
The Rouen-born midfielder signed for the principality club in January 2020 from Bordeaux, where he completed his formative years and for whom he made his professional debut. He made three appearances in his first half-season at the club but has been a stalwart for the two full campaigns that followed.
In total, Tchouamnei is nearing 100 appearances for Monaco, having become undroppable under Niko Kovac and his successor Phillipe Clement. He has also made eight appearances for the France national team.
