Barcelona are exploring the possibility of signing Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso this summer – reports Fabrizio Romano. Despite playing regularly of late, the Spaniard is second choice behind Ben Chilwell and on a contract up until the summer of 2023.
The Blaugrana will be required to compensate the Blues if they wish to sign the Spaniard; as per Transfermarkt, Alonso is currently valued at 15 million euros, but that may change depending on other factors, such as age and contract length.
The 31-year-old is one of the few names on a shortlist of candidates. However, his signing is being given serious consideration by the Barcelona hierarchy, who have, as per the report, even established direct contact to explore it further. Meanwhile, Alonso is not the only Chelsea player Barca is keen on signing either; the club has closed the signing of centre-back Andreas Christensen on a free transfer and is in talks with Cesar Azpilicueta.

Furthermore, reports of Barcelona reaching an agreement with Valencia regarding the sale of Carlos Soler were quickly refuted by the latter, who released a statement rebutting the news report released by Diario AS.
The report read that the two clubs had closed the deal for a 20 million fee and that Soler would move to Camp Nou to replace Frenkie de Jong.
One of the mainstays of Valencia, the club confirmed its intention to renew Soler’s contract as soon as possible.
“In response to a story published this Monday in Spanish newspaper Diario AS, Valencia deny the existence of any agreement – or any ongoing negotiation – with Barcelona for the transfer of Carlos Soler.
The club are currently in an open negotiation process with the player and his agents to extend his contract with Valencia.”
