MS Dhoni took back the reins of Chennai Super Kings midway through Indian Premier League 2022 after Ravindra Jadeja relinquished the captaincy. Ex-India cricketer Pragyan Ojha, who has played for the national side under Dhoni, sheds light on his captaincy methods.
Former India captain returned to leading CSK after Ravindra Jadeja decided to step down. The 40-year-old marked his return with a win over Sunrisers Hyderabad by 13 runs at MCA Stadium on May 1.

Ruturaj Gaikwad hammered 99 off 57 while Devon Conway smashed an unbeaten 85 off 55 to help the team cross 200. Maheesh Theekshana and Ravindra Jadeja bowled economical spells and Mukesh Choudhary picked four wickets to take home the victory. They are slated to face Royal Challengers Bangalore at the same MCA Stadium on May 4.
Speaking on Cricbuzz, Ojha revealed that Dhoni’s team meetings are often very short and he doesn’t give instructions to players beforehand.
“MS Dhoni’s team meetings are quite short, he does most of the work on the ground. He does not tell beforehand what to do to the players. He just tells the coaching staff to ensure that the players are ready, he keeps a tab on everything that is going on in the team,”
he said.
With their latest victory, six-placed CSK stay alive in the race for the playoffs. They have six points to their name from nine games, and winning all of their last five games will ensure their direct qualification.
Former India seamer RP Singh believes that CSK can qualify for the playoffs and that nothing is impossible.
“It is not like they are out of it yet. If they lose one more they are gone, but if they keep winning, they have a chance. It is not like this is happening for the first time, nothing is impossible,”
he told Cricbuzz.
