Antonio Conte’s name has popped up in the discussions for the next Paris Saint Germain manager, with incumbent Mauricio Pochettino reportedly under scrutiny. Tottenham, in anticipation, have drawn up a shortlist of potential replacements.
As per Marca, Spurs boss Antonio Conte had offered himself up as a candidate to replace the Argentine – if he indeed is relieved of his duties. Conte had given mixed signals throughout the season through his press conferences regarding his future in London, and so it comes as no surprise that Tottenham – reportedly – have prepared a contingency list of managers in case of the Italian’s sudden departure.
Rumours earlier in the week spoke of a sensational job swap between Conte and Pochettino, with the Argentine returning to his former club. Pochettino was linked with a return to Spurs throughout the season but, as per Daily Mail, there are some reservations within the club over the tactician, which may hamper a potential reunion. The 50-year-old was also linked with the Manchester United job, before the club decided to give it to Erik ten Hag.
Spurs could reportedly explore the possibility of appointing Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter if Conte leaves this summer. The North London outfit, reportedly, are big admirers of the Englishman and considered bringing him on as their manager last summer before appointing Nuno Espirito Santo. Potter has impressed in his time at the Amex, often besting bigger sides than his with a modest budget.
Additionally, Spurs are also monitoring the situation surrounding Italy national team head coach Roberto Mancini. The Italian recently claimed that he would continue as the head coach despite getting knocked out at the hands of North Macedonia in the World Cup playoffs. Mancini was previously the coach of Manchester City, whom he led to their first-ever Premier League title.
