Plenty of changes are expected at the Old Trafford this summer with new incoming manager Erik Ten Hag requesting signings to overhaul the squad. According to reports, Manchester United have made a bid to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer. The two parties had also previously been strongly linked to each other during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. However, a move hadn’t materialised because of Lazio’s strong financial demands.
The Serb is capable of playing both as an interior and an attacking midfielder. The 27-year-old has been a regular feature in the Lazio side since making his debut in 2015. He has made 290 appearances for the Biancocelesti and has scored 56 goals and registered 51 assists.
Although the player has two additional years on his contract, a move to Old Trafford could be on the cards for him this summer. Sports Witness translated a claim from a local Rome-based outlet on April 25. Apparently, United have made an official bid of 65 million euros to the Italian club for the services of the 27-year-old.
A report in the Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport suggests that the Serbian midfielder’s agent is planning talks with United as well as the newly minted Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
With Paul Pogba’s contract coming to an end this summer, it has been taken for granted that the French stalwart will be leaving United. The Red Devils’ club-record signing, his move hasn’t exactly worked out and it has been a particularly disappointing phase of his career.

The United board reportedly thinks that Milinkovic-Savic could prove to be a suitable replacement for Pogba at the heart of the engine room at Old Trafford. Milinkovic-Savic’s agent, Mateja Kezman, believes the Lazio star actually has ‘better quality than Pogba’, so a summer swoop could be a smart move, providing a defensive midfielder arrives as well.
