Five-time Indian Premier League winners MI have failed to win a single match in their first eight outings in the ongoing season. The most decorated T20 franchise in the world has suffered eight consecutive losses. Captain Rohit Sharma claimed that they haven’t put the right foot forward and appreciated the fans for all the support.
Mathematically, Mumbai are still in the race for the playoffs, but the chances of that happening are extremely low. Sharma, who has won five Premier League titles and one CLT20 title for MI as a skipper, hasn’t been able to lead his team to a victory in any of the games. No team in the history of the league has lost their first eight matches in a season.
He shared a message via Twitter to the fans that he is grateful for all the support they have received.
“We haven’t put our best foot forward in this tournament but that happens, many sporting giants have gone through this phase but I love this team and its environment. Also want to appreciate our well-wishers who’ve shown faith and undying loyalty to this team so far,”

Rohit has been receiving backlash for the team’s as well as his own performance in the season. He has only managed 153 runs in the competition from eight innings at an average of 19.13. Along with him, a few other senior players haven’t performed well either.
Mumbai Indians didn’t have a great mega auction as they focused more on the future. Their issues were further aggravated by their unclear thought process and plans during the season. Dropping power-hitter Tim David, whom they bought for a huge sum, after a couple of games is just one of the examples.
The former champions have six matches to deliver some good performances and put a smile on their fans’ faces. With nothing to lose, they can also prove to be dangerous party spoilers for other teams.
