Erik ten Hag’s appointment as the Manchester United manager might have only been confirmed recently, but reports claim that the club hierarchy has, nonetheless, decided to hand the Dutchman a war chest for the transfer market this summer.
The club’s confirmed ten Hag’s appointment officially on April 21; the Dutchman will take over the managerial duties from Ralf Rangnick at the end of the season, and, if all goes well, for the next four years. However, the task which lies ahead of ten Hag is huge, as per Rangnick himself, who claimed that this current United side is at least six years behind their rivals.
“We have to accept they are six years ahead of us now. When Jurgen Klopp came they changed the club and lifted not just the team but the club and city to a new level. That is what needs to happen with us in the next transfer windows,”
he said.
To fasten the process of catching up to their rivals, the club will hand Ten Hag a massive 200 million pounds war chest for the upcoming summer transfer window – reports the Mirror. The sum, the club hopes, will help fill in the necessary gaps for the seasons ahead and replace the outgoing players, with as many as 12 names being linked with a permanent exit.
As per the report, United won’t renew the contracts of aging stars Edinson Cavani, Nemanja Matic or Juan Mata beyond this season. Additionally, Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba, both of whom are free to sign for any club past this summer, will also leave the club for free.

Meanwhile, the club is also expecting the departures of several other members of the first-team squad. Eric Bailly and Phil Jones are likely to depart for a minor fee after falling behind the others in the pecking order, as is Anthony Martial, who is spending the latter half of the season on loan at Sevilla.
Finally, Marcus Rashford and Alex Telles, too, could leave the club once the window opens, leaving a major rebuilding job for ten Hag and co.
