Manchester City have reportedly locked down the terms of agreement with Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, whom they plan to release from his contract this summer by paying the break clause. The Norwegian has been heavily linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, and Manchester United in recent months and years, but his destination, at present, looks likely to be the Etihad Stadium.
As per the Daily Mail, the Citizens have assembled a package worth more than 500,000 pounds-a-week for the 21-year-, which would make him the highest-paid player in the league ahead David de Gea, Paul Pogba, and Cristiano Ronaldo – all of Manchester United.

With the terms of the deal agreed, City are pressing on with their plans to trigger Haaland’s release clause, worth 63 million, thus freeing him from his Dortmund contract and allowing him to sign for the club on what is being reported as a five-year contract.
Furthermore, the report concludes City will attempt to seal Haaland’s signature before the end of the subsequent week, thus blocking any chance of a late surprise from another interested party; as mentioned before, Real Madrid and Barca have both been credited with a credible interest in Haaland in recent weeks.
With the Haaland deal in the bag, City will likely end their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane. The Englishman was linked with the Citizens last summer when he openly expressed his desire to leave his boyhood club – a request which was firmly denied by the Spurs hierarchy.
In Haaland, City will get a striker who has maintained an incredible, almost-a-goal-a-game record throughout his time with Borussia; he has scored 82 goals in 85 appearances for the German side up until now. Additionally, the City forward department will be boosted by the arrival of Julian Alvarez of River Plate, whom they signed last January.
